Day 1 China (哈尔滨,大庆)
For those who are still unaware, I am currently in 大庆, a city in 哈尔滨. Temperature here is -18deg. Snowed here last nite and saw ground covered in snow as we travelled all the way from Harbin International Airport. Been an eye opener so far. Haven't seen snow nor experienced the smoke in the air as we breathe. I will try to upload this blog as often as i can to update those interested. Here's some pics to keep urself in touch w mi while i m in China!:
Just before departure w my loved ones I got bored while waiting for plane to take off I entertained myself w 'I pronounce you Chuck & Larry' My lunch on board. Its nicer then it looks. Upon arrival at Beijing International Airport. Doesn't look cold but it was 1 deg. The shops at the domestic flights area were disappointing. Merry X'mas though! Gearing up for Beijing 2008! Awaiting domestic flight to Harbin. Sun sets real early here. This was barely 445pm
I tried to take a decent pic of us.Finally we arrived in Harbin! It was really cold. -18 deg. I tried wearing just a jacket but can really feel the coldness.Roads were covered with snow that made driving dangerous. 大庆 is certainly more modern than i thought so. I was freezing while this pics were taken out in the open. Had a late dinner at this restaurant where we were the only ones left and it remained open just for us. We were given a VIP room. Here's my company for this trip. Being the only guy has its perks and disadvantages. I am made to drink on behalf of e gals. Shucks. Personalised attention from the wait staff. We had steamboat. Chinese hosts are really hospitable. They spare no expenses in making their guests feel well at home. This was one of the few pics i had of the food. Quite pai seh to keep taking. They call this 大闸蟹. why 大 i dunno but its quite cool coz there's words engraved on the shell of the crab. But i still prefer the ones back in Sg.
And here's my home for the coming 2 weeks.
Almost 210am already. I like my team. This job is turning out better than expected although i haven't start work yet. I miss Singapore and u people already! I will be back for more pics soon so do stay tuned!
